MAMO Dairy Story

DAIRY FIRM LEVERAGES $140K INVESTMENT TO SOURCE FROM UP TO 1,000 FARMERS BY 2021

"Before working with Accelerate Prosperity, we were on the verge of closing. Now we have a business plan and financial model that has enabled us to grow and create new employment opportunities in Gilgit."
Upon completing acceleration training with Accelerate Prosperity, Mamu Dairy has become the largest collector and processor of local fresh milk in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). Accelerate Prosperity's catalytic financing of $26K has been able to unlock additional $140K from Mamu Dairy's owners, Karim Uddin and Naseema Karim, a husband and wife partnership, and the private sector to increase its production capacity and supply across GB, increasing its revenues by 14% within a year.

It also puts Mamu Dairy on track to increase its milk processing from 600 liters per day in 2017 to over 1,000 liters per day by 2021. It will also increase its collection from 400 farmers in 2018 to 1,000 farmers by 2021. Increased production, improved efficiency and quality controls will also enable Mamu Dairy to serve over 700 households (over 4,200 clients) in 2021. It currently supports 12 fulltime direct jobs and 1,620 indirect jobs through backward & forward linkages.
